I was successful in my hunt! I caught a 1 oz. Eagle Owl mouse from the Calm Clearing worth 5,300 points and 2,251 gold.
I caught mine with Swiss army knife/explosive base/ brie
I have 129 Eagle Owl mice, and god, do they end up looking normal after a while.
